About Mike

Mike Major has been in the recording business for 30 years. In that time he has worked with many artists from all over the globe including: At The Drive-In, Sparta, Coheed and Cambria, As Tall As Lions, Davenport Cabinet, Malibu Stacy, Mary Trembles, Daniel Ahern and the Jones, Quiet Company, The March Divide, and hundreds of others. He was responsible for the music mix for the video game Splinter Cell: Blacklist which was composed by Sencit Music.

Mike runs his personal mixing/mastering studio, Mike’s Mix Room, in Dunedin FL, where he specializes in mixing and mastering. Mike is the author of Recording Drums: The Complete Guide. The book covers the complicated subject of recording drums in a complete, comprehensive, yet easy to understand manner. The book will be available in early April through all major book retailers. He is also a regular contributor to sonicscoop, an excellent online audio-centric magazine and blog.

Mike has created the web series “The Method to the Mix” on YouTube, which walks the viewer through the entire process of mixing drum tracks. This is a comprehensive explanation of the process that Mike uses on all of his mixes.
